About the role
Are you looking for an exciting and varied role where you will be working within a team dedicated to managing the councils owned and leased accommodation? You will be a key player in the placing and managing of households threatened with homelessness or in housing crisis and helping them move into temporary and settled accommodation.
Essential criteria for the role
- You will have previous experience of working face to face with customers and experience of working with homeless households.
- You must have the ability to use IT systems including email, word and excel and have good oral and written communication skills.
- You will have 5 GCSEs at grades A – C, including English and Mathematics, or an equivalent level of qualification along with a current driving licence and daily access to a vehicle insured for business use.
Key responsibilities for the role
- support homeless households to move rapidly from temporary to suitable long-term accommodation.
- arrange emergency hotel placements for homeless households in accordance with the councils’ policies.
- support the liaison with statutory and voluntary agencies to ensure appropriate support packages are in place and risks are identified for our customers.
- acquire and maintain knowledge of health and safety legislation and council policies in relation to temporary accommodation.
- to provide practical support for households in temporary accommodation, including helping with benefit claims and signposting to other support services.
