This role is responsible for creating high‑quality digital and design communications that help residents understand and access council services. You’ll produce engaging visual content for both print and online channels, transform longer-form information into clear, accessible formats, and support campaigns that promote council priorities. Working closely with colleagues, you’ll develop creative concepts, capture photography and video at events, and ensure all outputs reflect the council’s brand and accessibility standards. The role also involves managing multiple design requests, organising digital assets, and maintaining an up‑to‑date understanding of best practice in digital communication and design.
Essential criteria for the role
Professional qualification in Graphic Design with demonstrable personal experience in digital media, photo/videography or a related field, or 3 years’ experience professional and practical application in the relevant subject areas.
Key responsibilities for the role
- Design and produce engaging print materials—including leaflets, posters, and other collateral—to clearly communicate council services such as waste collection calendars.
- Create accessible, on‑brand digital assets for websites, social media, and email campaigns, and adapt longer-form content into concise, impactful copy and visuals for online channels.
- Capture and produce high‑quality photography and video, attending in‑person events across the districts and editing content for use on web, social media, and wider campaigns.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop creative concepts for campaigns and projects, ensuring all outputs align with council branding, visual identity, and accessibility standards.
- Manage and organise multiple design requests and digital assets, prioritising workflows, maintaining best practice, ensuring correct usage rights, and complying with legislation including data protection and equality standards.
