About the role
The aim of the Housing Needs Team is to ensure that people in housing need have access to the housing and support necessary to meet their requirements.
The Housing Assistant will play an active role in meeting these aims and in the provision of an efficient and effective service by carrying out the key responsibilities listed below.
Essential Criteria
- 5 GCSE's at Grades A - C or equivalent level of qualification
- experience of dealing with vulnerable and sometimes distressed people
- ability to use IT systems such as word, email and excel
- full driving licence and use of a car for business purposes
- experience of working as a team
Key responsibilities for the role
- answering telephone enquiries and dealing with correspondence
- processing housing register applications
- maintaining the council's housing register
- ensuring that accurate and appropriate records are kept and that confidentiality and data protection is observed
- developing and maintaining good working relationships with colleagues within the team, across the council and with external and partner agencies as required
