About the role
We're looking for someone to join a busy team working to improve housing standards for residents across Vale of White Horse.
Essential criteria for the role
Do you have:
- Five GCSE’s grades A-C or equivalent to include English and Maths
- RSA level II, NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in MS Word and Excel
- Two years’ experience in administration in a busy work environment Experience of financial processes (invoicing, purchase orders, payments)
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
Are you:
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams.
- Competent with numerical work.
Key responsibilities for the role
To act as the main point of contact for the public, the councils’ Home Improvement Agency (HIA) and housing associations for Disabled Facilities Grants (DFGs) and other housing grant and loan applications, from initial enquiries through to case completion.
To process applications for a range of housing assistance grants and loans offered by the council. This includes but is not restricted to
- Checking referrals and applications.
- Allocating cases to partner organisations including the councils’ Home Improvement Agency (HIA) and housing associations.
- Checking completed applications for accuracy and validity.
- Processing variations to grants.
- Checking and processing grant payments (invoicing and purchase orders) and deal with enquiries relating to payments.
To keep accurate records using grant administration software, maintain confidentiality and updating and refining procedures and processes where needed.
To provide advice and guidance on the application process for Disabled Facilities Grants (DFGs) and other housing grants and loans offered by the councils.
Provide support to applicants and professional agents for those who choose to self-manage their grant applications.
