  • About The Role

  • We are seeking an organised, proactive, and resilient Emergency Planning and Business Resilience Officer to join our Corporate Delivery Team. This is a vital role in ensuring the councils are prepared to respond effectively to both community emergencies and internal disruptions.

    You will play a key part in maintaining and strengthening our Emergency Response Arrangements, focusing on planning and preparedness. From reviewing and updating procedures to ensuring staff are trained, equipped, and confident, your work will help safeguard both council operations and the communities we serve.

    As a subject matter expert, you will also provide professional advice and guidance to senior officers, supporting the coordination of a robust, proportionate, and effective response when emergencies arise.

    Your essential skills, knowledge and experience

    • knowledge and practical experience of at least one of the key strands to the role, with a flexible approach and able to respond quickly when priorities change
    • takes ownership of delivery of activities within the scope of the role, is able to use initiative and pick up new tasks quickly
    • a confident and outgoing, effective communicator who is able to liaise effectively with people at all levels in the councils
    • is proficient in Microsoft Office packages, particularly Word and Excel and has a full and driving licence and use of a car for work
    • has the ability and willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends and attend site as required by the demands of the post

    Key responsibilities for the role

    • Develop, review, and maintain emergency and business resilience plans.
    • Ensure staff are trained and exercises are carried out to test preparedness.
    • Provide expert advice and support to senior officers during emergency incidents.
    • Lead and support cross-council and multi-agency working to build resilience
