About the role
This role will assist in the administration of building regulations, the Building Act and other associated legislation and will assist the Building Control Team with service plan implementation, meeting service standards and performance targets.
Essential criteria for the role (pull across the most essential qualifications, skills, knowledge and experience, not all of them)
Class 2A, Registered Building Inspector in line with a recognised BSR competency assessment with 2 years’ Building Control experience. A full and valid UK driving licence with the ability to provide and maintain a vehicle insured for business-use. You should be working towards Class 2D, Registered Building Inspector in line with a recognised BSR competency assessment and towards full chartered membership of a relevant industry recognised professional body (RICS, CABE, IFE, ISTructE, etc.)
Key responsibilities for the role
- to validate, examine and determine applications submitted under building regulations and associated legislation in line with BSR requirements
- to carry out site inspections to ensure compliance with building regulations and other relevant legislation in line with BSR requirements
- to provide professional and proportionate advice to applicants, agents, members and all stakeholders on all matters related to building control in line with BSR requirements
- to carry out inspections of dangerous structures, taking appropriate action
- to instigate enforcement procedures, preparing reports and statements to the council’s solicitor and appearing in court as a prosecution witness as required
